XL Future Leaders Show Some Love on ‘World Cancer Day’
Every year more than 8 million people die from cancer. On February 4 individuals from every corner of the earth unite for World Cancer Day, a day devoted to recognizing cancer. Cancer has long been known as a disease that could hit anyone regardless skin color, economic status and gender. Raising awareness and promoting healthier lifestyle are then essential to prevent cancer, for ourselves and others.
XL Future Leaders also took part on the movement. XLFL students fully understand that they need to do something to minimize the impact of cancer in society, better yet to help those affected to maintain positive energy in their healthy state. XLFL students realize that in order to become great leaders they need to take a good care of their physical health. Based on those things, they take the action to show their love on World Cancer Day. One small action that could lead to bigger impacts.
In 2016, the theme for World Cancer Day is “We can, I canâ€. With this spirit, students initiate a campaign on social media with #XLFL #SadarKanker as the official hash tag. The campaign underlines the importance of maintaining healthy life through sports and foods/drinks. XLFL students from all around the country flooding social media by posting their real actions.
It was really interesting to see and learn from this campaign. Some students post their activity doing sports and put long informative caption emphasizing why we need to make some sweat through physical activity such as jogging, golf, or as simple as walking. Take Scherzo as an example. He posted his picture playing Golf. Scherzo encouraged his followers to exercise with fun sports in order to stay fit and aware to the risk of cancer. Marko, Batch 4 student, educated his friends to eat dragon fruits as it is high in potassium, ferum, and protein which are good to minimize the risk of cancer.
There are a number of postings that could lead the readers to tears – but still motivating at the same time. Ahmad Nando told that he joined this campaign to honor his loved one that died from brain cancer 12 years ago. He mentioned that the ultimate recipe to stay healthy is smiling and being happy because it releases endorphin, or many people call it happy hormones. It is indeed showed that simple thing can help us improving our health.
The impact of #SadarKanker campaign, however big or small, have successfully raised awareness from XLFL students and their peers to make a good, balanced lifestyle as their choices. Many people from all around the world busy urging public officials to find the best formula to cure cancer, XLFL students have proofed that on this very day, we can all take steps, big or small, to help this fatal disease.
