Horas Medan!

Total 450 Students attended the second XLFL Batch 5 roadshow event which was held at Mutiara Suara Nafiri Convention Hall Medan, April 27th 2016. The Students came from various universities, such as Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Negeri Medan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, and Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. The aim of this event is to spread information about the XL Future Leaders Program to all university students from the western part of Indonesia, especially who are living and study in Medan.

Mr. Franky, Vice President XL Axiata West Region, during his official opening remark expressed his support to this program which will bring huge impact the students so they can learn and master all three competencies to be a global future leader, which are effective communication, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as managing change. He also shared with the students about his career journey, from regular staff to become a Vice President. His story gave a big motivation for the students to always strive to achieve their goal.

To make the participants experience how it feels to be in XLFL Class, Deedee as XL Future Leaders Facilitator conducted a game activity, simulated the using of SCAMPER thinking tool to generate new idea or improving and adding value to existing concept, using one of the most famous tourism destination in North Sumatera as the case object, Lake Toba. The audiences were excited to participate during the innovative ideation games and the selected participant then presenting their ideas using SCAMPER thinking tools. The first winner was an IT student of University of Sumatera Utara which brougt the idea of an application to allow tourists to discover the tourist sites around Lake Toba. As the winner, the student got special prizes from XL Axiata, such as smart phone.

The hype was not stop there.  In the afternoon, right after the university students’ session, XL Regional West also conducted a special session for the Senior High School Students which was attended by 250 high school students from various schools in Medan. The event aims to introduce the XL Future Leaders program to the students of high school, so that they can prepare to enroll in these programs whenever they become University Students. At this session, the committee conducted a ‘Ranking Satu’ games for the participants. It was the most exciting part in the event. At the end of the game, we earned 3 participants who become winners. Two of the three winners were from SMU 7 Medan who won special prizes for XL Axiata.

We hope that this year we will get more Students from Medan and other cities in Sumatera joining our program and be part of XL Future Leaders big family.
