XL Future Leaders Batch 5 Roadshow in Makassar

PT. XL Axiata Tbk (XL) is about to welcome the new batch of XL Future Leaders Students, and this year Makassar had been chosen to be the first city to hold the roadshow event, XLFL Day Batch 5 Makassar. It was held at Graha Pena Building Makassar, Saturday, April 16th, 2016. The aim of this event is to spread information about the XL Future Leaders Program to all university students from the eastern part of Indonesia, especially who are living and study in Makassar.

The event was attended by 350 students from various universities, such as Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Negeri Makassar, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, Universitas Fajar and Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang. It was officially opened by The First Assistant to Makassar City Mayor, Mr. Muh. Sabri, who expressed his support to this program which will bring huge impact the students so they can learn and master all three competencies to be a global future leader, which are effective communication, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as managing change.

IMG_6695Mr. Mozez Baottong, General Manager of Finance and Management Services, XL North Region, also shared with the students about the regional and global economic condition right now, where the jobs opportunity become super competitive with the ASEAN Open Labor Market. It pressures us to upgrade and master our knowledge and soft skills to be an important player and leader in the market.

Therefore, XL Axiata through XL Future Leaders program focus more in education, especially provides intensive and comprehensive soft skills trainings, to develop the potential students to achieve their highest aspiration and holding strategic position at any field of work according to their passion. XL Future Leaders program consists of XLFL Global Thinking, E-Learning, Scholarship and Millennial Internship.

This year, XL Axiata also launching its new CSR program as part of XL Future Leaders program, called Digital Leaders Competition. This competition got a big spotlight by all Students who attended the roadshow. They were interested because they are challenged develop idea and innovation using digital technology to support their city become smart city, especially in three aspects i.e. e-government, e-finance and e-facilities.

To make the participants experience how it feels to be in XLFL Class, Leo Mokodompit as XL Future Leaders Facilitator conducted a game activity, simulated the using of SCAMPER thinking tool to generate new idea or improving and adding value to existing concept. The audiences were excited to participate, because the case was ‘bentor’ (becak motor, public transportation in Makassar). The selected participant then presenting their SCAMPER ideas on ‘bentor,’ and the winners got special prizes from XL Axiata, such as smart phone and many more.

The XL Future Leaders Makassar Students (30 Students) also took their very active part in giving the participants comprehensive information about 4 (four) XLFL Programs in each program booth. They were asked various questions and had a deep conversation with the audience, from the requirement detail, selection phase, up to the impact they felt after joining this program. The Students were happily sharing all updates, having discussion, and in the end inspire them to be a great future leader.

In the afternoon, a special session conducted for the Senior High School Students which was attended by 60 high school students from various schools in Makassar, such as SMA Negeri 17 Makassar, SMA Katholik Cendrawasih, SMA Negeri 3 Makassar and SMK Negeri 2 Somba Opu. The event aims to introduce the XL Future Leaders program to the students of high school, so that they can prepare to enroll in these programs when they were in college later. Currently, the high school students were invited to join in XL e-learn platform to gain knowledge and soft skill which very useful to foster their leadership skills.

The XLFL Day Makassar was successfully held also with the supports of media partners and Makassar bloggers. We hope that this year we will get more Students from the eastern part of Indonesia joining our program and be part of XL Future Leaders big family.
